Who is the best skylanders

Perhaps most importantly it also shows you which packs you can buy each of the characters in. Some are only available in Single packs, while others are only available in the Triple or Adventure Packs. Then there are the three Legendary characters that can only be purchased as a set.

Here they are, in no particular order. The namesake of the original game and, indeed, the reason for this entire series, Spyro was and remains a hallmark of power and maneuverability.

He can fly and spew triple fireballs, pound the ground, and more. Getting the little dragon up to full strength is worth the effort, as his super-powered attacks and flight make him a shoe-in for boss fights and general usage.

Spyro also comes in an absurd amount of different poses and colors. Not counting the super-cute mini edition, there have been six different variants of the dragon—including two Dark and one Legendary figure. His hands double as old west-style quick shooting laser pistols and by manually targeting his rockets on the fly which takes some practice , he can do plenty of group damage. Bouncer even has a mean eye beam to plow the area directly ahead of him. Possibly the worst mother in all of gaming, Sonic Boom is another triple threat aerial character.

Fully powered, this feathered fighter can lay eggs that hatch into frisky baby griffins and grow to adolescence if they survive long enough. Sometimes they go through dozens of these prototypes before settling on just the right figure in just the right position. It's an in-depth process carried out by the same people who work on the art for the game, and the care and craft that goes into each toy is obvious.

Just as important, each of these toys feels solid. In an age of cheap, breakable toys, it's a relief to find a toy line with this level of quality.

These toys are just as fun to play with by themselves as they are in the game. Here's a look at some of the best Skylanders Giants toys for the Holiday Season. These are just the toys I've played personally. Not every new toy has even been released yet, nor have I been able to play each one. Also, Tree Rex is easily one of the best figures out there but since he comes with both the Starter Pack and the Portal-Owners Pack, you basically can't buy this game without him included.

Chill is one of the new regular-sized Skylanders released for Skylanders Giants. She's also one of my favorites, and a big hit with my daughter. As a Water Skylander, Chill has ice-related powers. Chill comes as a regular and as a "Lightcore" modelthe latter lights up when placed on the Portal of Power.

She's fast, has some really cool attacks such as a powerful whale attack that's one of the more hilarious moves in the game, and has pretty good starting defensive stats. The toy is a bit more delicate than many of the others, but it's also one of the neatest designs. Chill is small and lithe, similar to Spyro's Stealth Elf, and has really great looking silver and blue armor, with a crystal javelin and shield.

Zook is back from Spyro's Adventure as a Series 2 Skylander. The Series 2 figurines have been redesigned and have a new level cap of 15, giving them 5 more levels of upgrading and power over the Series 1 figures [Update: Series 1 can level up to 15 now as well, I was mistaken. Zook is a Life Skylander, and shoots powerful rockets and pineapple mortars at his enemies.

He's also one of the more humorous characters in the game, boasting a lively Jamaican accent and a hearty chuckle. The toy itself is greata smiling green plant thing with crazy hair and a colorful rocket launcher. Zook is definitely one of the sturdier figures, making him one of the safer buys if you plan on doing lots of non-gaming play with these figures. Bouncer is a robot, laser-eyed Giant, and one of the original four to release for the game.

As a Tech Skylander, he has access to all the special Tech areas, as well as an arsenal of guns and rockets and the aforementioned laser eyes as well as other powers. Playing as the villains was like a special powered-up mode and a lot of fun — particularly the way the captured villains taunted from the speakers on the portal itself. You needed one of each trap element to play as all the villains, but you could mix and match them within their elemental types.

Much speculation was given as to how the traps would be incorporated into future games, and the answer was, unfortunately, not very well if at all.

Save for a few standouts the new Trap Master figures were generally disappointing, and requiring them to unlock everything in the game was irksome.

One standout feature that Trap Team added: tower defense survival mode. These were fantastic challenge modes, built for various levels of Skylanders, and a fun way to earn experience and level up outside the main game. They also played perfectly in co-op.

For whatever reason, the mode was dropped in future games. The third game in the Skylanders series was the first developed by Vicarious Visions, instead of series creator Toys for Bob. Like the annualized Call of Duty series, Activision would appoint two studios to keep up with the yearly output of new entries. Vicarious Visions created an excellent entry that provided some of the biggest, best level designs the series has ever offered.
